Topic 1: Betty gave an update on the ERM meetings at IGeLU.
- Service pack 2 is out but doesn’t have the one piece of consortial support that we need, but this should be available in Service pack 3. Service pack 3 is due out on Oct 23. Once this has been received we can move forward with the USMAI implementation.
- Version 3 is due out in the third quarter of 2007. Specifics on functional enhancements were not released.
- SUSHI standard draft to be released in late September
SUSHI
- License Expression Working Group will possibly have a report out in early 2007.
Topic 2: Betty reported on the future enhancements scheduled for Verde.
- Verde KB merged with SFX. Once the USMAI instances are up and live, ITD will do the SFX updates in Verde.
- SUSHI- Need to have more publisher participation. This will be a tool to do cost analysis and to analyze usage and cost across packages.
- Collection Analysis Reports- It will be possible to request reports that show packages that renew during certain time periods and the cost per package.
- KB will be enhanced with A & I databases.
- Verde integration with MetaLib has been delayed.
Topic 3: Next steps for ERM Task Group
- Anything in the Version 2 test database will be deleted whenthe final data conversion takes place, so info should only be added to Version 1.1.
- ExLibris will be conducting the final migration and conversion of data from 1.1 to 2.0 over the next two weeks. We should be reviewing the data moved from 1.1 to 2 to test the data transfer and report any problems via the wiki.
- Any new licenses should be added to 1.1, however the options for drop down boxes may be slightly different in Version 2, so may have to do clean up if licenses are entered in 1.1.
- KB update and refresh will be done by Oct 23 to be ready for the installation of the Service pack which will provide functionality for our consortial model.. At some point 1.1 on the test server will have to be taken down for its update to 2. When it comes back up after the update, Laura suggested that we use it for testing integration with SFX, against the SFX test server.
- Betty reported that cost information will not be reflected unless the specific instance is active. ExLibris has added to the wish list the ability of non active instances to see cost information.
- After consortial instance is upgraded to 2.0 and complete, Ex Libris will do another SFX update then will run “overlap report” for the individual instances to activate consortial purchases. These will be managed in the consortial instance and we will be able to see the data, but not edit in the individual instances. UMLL and UMBC will be the first two individual instances. Hopefully, all of this will occur by the end of November.
- Once we are in production in the consortial instance and the two individual instances and have test Verde integrated with test SFX, we can start to review and test at the user interface portion of the system.
There was discussion of how the training and implementation process would go for the other campuses. Several ideas were discussed. One possible idea was to use the Webinar system at UMUC to do information and training session. Another possible option was to us the ILLIAD implementation model for training and implementation.
Documentation for training was discussed and Betty suggested that we think through the roles of the various staff users on the campuses. Review who will need usernames and passwords and what level of access will be needed.
Betty and Nathan will meet with UMCP legal counsel to review the “License Interpretation Best Practices” document.
