August 19, 2005: Meeting Minutes

The main focus of the Authentication, Authorization, and Security Working Group meeting Friday 8/19/2005 was to get an understanding of the work that needs to be done and what areas the group should address.

There were overviews of:

• Staff permissions and security (John) and Dave Kennedy's involvement in NAAUG security group (recommendations accepted by Aleph for v. 18).
  Discussion of subgroup with John Coogan possibly to chair.
• Shibboleth overview by Dave Kennedy.
  The USM Middleware group is looking to see what ITD/CP is doing and use this as an example to get interest from other campuses at expanding it to other services (access to portals, course mgt. systems, and other services university-wide)
• Patron Load (ran out of time - to be discussed at next meeting)
• The group will meet monthly for the next 5-6 months to get a handle on these issues
