Marcive Shipping List Loader (20031120)

1. General Introduction to Processing
   

   For institutions that have completed SLS record-processing profiles with Marcive, Inc., this loader loads Marcive shipping list records and generates default holdings and items. As of 11/03, BC, CP, FS, ML, MS, SU, UB have shipping list profiles to support loader generation of default items and holdings. ITD retrieves FTP files weekly from Marcive.

2. Bibliographic Record Processing
   

   Marcive SLS records have Marcive control number (tmp number) in 035 with blank indicators. Loader will set Leader 17 (EncLvl) to "3" on all records loaded.

   Loader will add tag 950 $a MARCIVE SLS and timestamp to all bibliographic records loaded.

   1. Record matching Rules
      

      Match on Marcive control number (tmp number) in 035 with blank indicators, although it is not anticipated that there will be any matches. If matches occur, reject incoming record and report it out for manual review.

   Create holdings and items with dummy barcodes based on 049 $a.

   Use call number type "3" and derive call number from 086 tag in bib.

   • Total number of records in file to be loaded
   • Number of records loaded giving BID range
   • Number of records rejected and report out records
   • HOLdings & items generated by the loader for each profiled institution.
   • Weekly report of SLS records still having processing status IP & with dummy barcode
