Minutes of January 12, 2006 meeting
McKeldin Library
Members present: Heidi Hanson (ITD), Marlene Vikor (CP), Gordana Ruth (CP), Virginia Williams (FSU), Vicki Sipe (Chair, UMBC), Wilma Bass (ex-officio, USMAI Authorities TG) note taker
- Announcements: Meg Del Baglivo has resigned from the HS/HSL. No decision has been made for a replacement on this committee. (Note: Wilma Bass appointed to CPC by Barbara Gontrom, CLD, 1/12/2006)
- Collection Management Loader - specs submitted to COIs, response due back by 1/18
- Workplan: Gordana will distribute revised workplan
Major focus of committee will be
- Authorities implementation with TG
Checking test files
Developing work flows
Documentation
USMAI staff training
- Consolidation of Material Type Codes (see below)
- OCLC duplication—019s, govdoc dupes
Heidi and Marlene will work on scope
(retrospective and ongoing)
Does not include UMC99, SM Autographics
- Aleph version updates
- Material Type Codes (Virginia)
9 different mat types presently used to reflect seriality
In order to reduce complexity and to support predictive patterns the committee recommends:
- Map PERUB and PER to ISSUE
- Map PERBD to ISSBD
CON, SRU, NEWSP and SER still need to be addressed. Members will contact their assigned libraries for direction in mapping these terms. Written justification for retaining any of these 3 terms will be submitted by library to CPC by 1/13/06
- Links for CPC website – member discussion via e-mail, Vickie will revise and send to ITD for posting on CPC website
ACTION ITEMS
Announcement of collection management loader
Members will contact assigned library for feedback on mapping of CON, SRU and SER
Wilma will contact SM re Autographics loader
Gordana will revise and submit Workplan for posting to website
Marlene and Heidi will develop scope for OCLC duplication merge
Virginia will draft proposal for Material Type mapping
NEXT MEETING
Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, 10–1 pm room 440A, HS/HSL
Authorities testing may be organized prior to scheduled meeting
