Here are the updated minimum specifications for purchasing new staff PCs. CLD reviewed these a while back, and I have updated them to reflect those conversations.
I am holding the per unit price equal to the what it has been in the past: $1,400. This permits the purchase of a more robust configuration that is demanded by new software in general and the new Aleph clients in particular. This is not a recommendation for the replacement of all existing computers, it is a guide for the purchase of new PCs.
One key factor we are aware of is the increased screen real- estate needed for work with the new Aleph clients, particularly in cataloging. We strongly recommend that each monitor be set at a resolution of at least 1024 x 768 pixels.
