About ECCC

Charge:

The Committee is charged with recommending priorities and courses of action, and with formulating policies for the functional areas under its purview. Members should also respond to requests from CLD for research, priorities and initiatives and from ITD for feedback or testing. The Committee will also advise on changes to current or successor consortium tools—Aleph, Metalib, SFX, etc.— and determine if there are system-wide implications. For specific tasks refer to the annual work plan.

Scope:

ECCC will focus on shepherding member-held electronic collections through their life cycles (including workflow steps of Initiation, Evaluation, Licensing, Activation, Cataloging and may also include Archiving or Deaccessioning) and will facilitate communication on e-resource issues which affect the consortium. It advises on issues related to e-resource management, discovery and access and on relevant national and international standards; organizes, documents, and communicates e-management decisions; oversees and coordinates creation of procedural documentation; provides fora for staff to discuss and resolve issues related to electronic collections management, discovery and access; and makes provisions for the training of USMAI library staff responsible for aspects of the e-resource life cycle.
