Downloading Records from the USMAI Catalog
To download records from the catalog, search the catalog from within Endnote or ProCite, using the Connect or Internet Search options.
EndNote users:
- You need a connection file for the catalog saved in your EndNote Connections folder.
Download the connection file for the:
When prompted to open or save the file, save it to your C:\Program Files\Endnote\Connections folder.
- In Endnote, go to Tools > Connect > Connect ? and choose the USMAI connection file
- A search window will open and you can type in your search terms.
- Use the "Copy reference to" button at the top of the results list to add the records to your EndNote library.
ProCite users:
- Go to Tools > Internet Search. In the bar above the search boxes, click on the Hosts button.
- At the bottom of the Internet Hosts window, click on the Configure Hosts button.

- Click on the New Hosts button on the right.
- Fill out the boxes in the Host configuration screen as below and click OK:

- Fill out the Database Properties screen as below and click OK:

Replace the code in the Database Name field with the code for the catalog you want to search. Choose from below:
- Global USMAI catalog (all 16 institutions' catalogs): GL
- Bowie State University: BS
- Center for Environmental Science: CE
- Coppin State University: CS
- Frostburg State University: FS
- Morgan State University: MS
- Salisbury University: SU
- St. Mary's College of Maryland: SM
- Towson University: TU
- University of Baltimore: UB
- University of Baltimore Law Library: BL
- University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC): BC
- University of Maryland, College Park: CP
- University of Maryland, Eastern Shore: ES
- University of Maryland Health Sciences and Human Services Library: HS
- University of Maryland Law Library: ML
- University of Maryland University College: UC
You've now set up ProCite to connect to the catalog.
To start searching the catalog:
- Go to Tools > Internet Search. Then click on the Hosts button and check the box before the USMAI catalog. Click OK.
- Type in your search terms and click on the Search button. The search results will appear on the screen. Mark the records you want to save to a database file by clicking on the checkbox next to those records.
- To move those records to a database, go to Database > Copy Marked Records and then select the database you want the records saved in.
