E-Collections Task Group Charge

The primary charge of the USMAI Electronic Collections Task Group is to work together as a consortium to develop shared electronic resource collections. By coming together as a consortium, the participating libraries will be able to realize cost efficiencies and savings for individual campuses. Members of the task group will identify, evaluate, and recommend electronic resources; share information on electronic resource subscriptions with staff at their libraries and report individual library decisions regarding subscriptions (new and renewals); monitor usage statistics and licensing restrictions; coordinate implementation and maintenance of electronic resources through Research Port and SFX; assist the Interface Task Group in testing Research Port and SFX; explore different models for determining centrally funded core databases, and collaborate in the investigation of other means of developing electronic collections and alternative methods of scholarly communication.

Membership will consist of a representative from each library appointed by the Director (with an alternate member if the campus desires). The work of the group will necessarily be accomplished in collaboration with ITD. The group will exist for two years with a possibility for renewal.
