Minutes of the ERIC2 meeting

Minutes were approved.

ITD’s request for information on loaders
Yalan has sent out a list of requests for loaders or changes in loaders. Linda will send her information on the NetLibrary and Marcive specs, and will ask her to add the SFX Loader to the list. Linda is also working with CPC on X Refer (Credo). Instead of a loader spec, she is preparing instructions to bring the records in through the back door and will share these instructions with UB and Morgan.

E-Book Forum

• October 9th, 1-3 p.m. at UMBC Tech Center
• Heidi will facilitate
• Linda will send another email invitation to the TG Chairs and the ALEPH team asking for RSVP. She will also ask each group to prepare a statement (5 min or less) describing their role in the E-book process. She will indicate that if a Task Group wishes to invite one guest who is not a member of the TG, but whom they think would have valuable input, they may do so.

The forum is intended to bring representatives from various task groups working with e-books together to share what they are doing related to e-books and discuss issues and solutions.

Next steps for serials MARC record project
Betty will schedule phone interview with Ebsconet (Laura and Marlene also). The group will ask the same set of questions that have been asked of Serials Solutions and MARCit. Laura and Marlene will report on interview at the September meeting.

Need to follow-up on 1 issue with Serials Solution: can they integrate the SFX object id into their record. Also need to know from Ex Libris whether this object id is proprietary and can be given to Serials Solutions.

Will need to get sample records from each of three vendors (Marlene?)

In November, the ERIC TG will review interview responses, record analysis and determine whether we will make a recommendation to CLD.
