December 12, 2005
Present: Betty Day; Mary Gilbert; Heidi Hanson; Ted Kruse; Jean Phillips; Celia Rabinowitz; Linda Seguin; Bill Sleeman (minutes); Marlene Vikor; Laura Wrubel.
1) Betty reviewed agenda and requested that we discuss the proposed forum first and the netLibrary load later in the meeting as she had to leave early. Approved.
2) Past minutes for October were approved. November minutes were approved with minor changes.
3) ERIC report - Jean Phillips: not completed yet. She will send out when ready. (Jean, did I get this right?)
4) Task force reviewed the proposed forum to be held in January, possibly on the eleventh, twelfth or thirteenth of the month.
Marlene Vikor asked what "exactly" we were going to present as the soft release version. Laura Wrubel then presented some proposed changes to the Find It button and to the OPAC screen to reflect needed changes identified during testing. Heidi Hanson will be working on some of the screen changes and will let the Task Force know when they are ready to be reviewed. The changes presented include:
Betty suggested that we send out an e-mail listing all of the proposed changes to the OPAC screen and the Find It button.
Jean reminded the Task Force that we will require documentation to explain what we are going to present at the forum. Marlene urged that we keep the "services" aspect of the Find It button upfront in our planning for the presentation. Linda suggested that the forum might be a good chance to demonstrate the "one record' approach that we looked at for future implementations. Laura also indicated that we should include the results of the usability testing and how that informed our decision making.
The Task Force considered what services to retain/show in the Find It menu for the forum. Betty will check to see if the Syndetics trial can run through January. Bill asked if there might be any University System or state prohibition against pointing users to Amazon and not other vendors. Laura will check on this.
A question about timing of the soft release followed. It was agreed to go live after ALA Mid Winter on January 25.
Betty inquired about the MarcIt records and where that discussion fit into the forum.
Assignments for pre-forum work and for the forum were made. The drafts are to be submitted by December 16. Betty will assemble and edit the final version and Jean will forward the e-mail to the COIs.

Jean will ask CLD at the December 15th meeting for a one year extension to ERIC II as the term for the current task force expires in December 2005
5) Jean presented her proposed loader scheme for the NetLibrary bibliographic records. She informed the task force that there were several loads and extracts scheduled ahead of the NetLibrary load. Jean proposed loading the NetLibrary the same time as the SFX to avoid having to change the note in the 856. There was some discussion about how to treat the records (approximately 10% per Laura) that are not in the SFX knowledgebase. Jean proposed not adding these until Ex Libris has added them to SFX, this was agreed to.
Jean will revise the loader to reflect the proposed changes and send it to the CPC to be reviewed.
Heidi and Jean will create a new collection code and IPS for the NetLibrary titles.
Marlene agreed to prepare a mock up of a NetLibrary record for ERIC II to review.
The meeting adjourned at 11:30.
We will meet again on January 6 to prepare for the forum.
