Minutes were approved.
Hanson reviewed the work done so far on the new titles catalog. Indexes have been built (and re-built) on specifications developed and revised by Marlene Vikor. Many of the UITG's suggestions for screen design (from discussion at the November 7 meeting) are in place in the test catalog, specifically:
Still to be done: work on the advanced search page to add a limit by new titles
The group suggested several changes in wording. Hanson will create screenshots to show different choices for background color to signify the new titles catalog, and post them on the wiki for reaction from the group. The hope is that the new titles catalog will be ready for release to the COIs by the end of year, with the possibility of going live at the end of January, if (1) the algorithm for creating the new titles base is correct/acceptable, and (2) screen design is acceptable.
Hanson sent email to the COIs on December 1 announcing changes currently in the test catalog and requesting comment. There was some discussion of the results that are retrieved using the "limit by format" for e-books, including the retrieval of titles that seem to be journals (actually "integrating resources"); further work may be needed on this change before putting it in the live catalog.
Hanson reported no progress on PAC design for Authorities, as other priorities have taken precedence. Recruitment of members for a small group to advise on screen design is still underway (Cindy Todd and Patti Cossard have agreed to participate).
UITG considered the holdings notes proposed by CPC. These are notes on holdings for e-journals, and will be recommended in procedures discussed at the Dec. 8 forum on the single record approach for cataloging e-resources. The group decided that shorter wording would be better, and will recommend to CPC that it be changed to:
1. Click on Find It button
2. Click internet link in the full view of record.
Wrubel will forward the group's response to CPC.
UITG looked at the workplan as requested by ITD. The group had questions about how ongoing work, such as usability testing and interface change requests, was represented in the work plan. Addressing problems revealed in usability testing can require serious work, and should be represented in the plan. Todd will write up the group's comments on the wiki, to be submitted as RX reports in January.
