User Interface Task Group Meeting Minutes

Topic 1: Minutes of April meeting
The group approved the minutes.
Topic 2: Review of change requests
- Propose suppression of 886 to COI.
- Holdings display 852 note HH work on formatting of display put in test for review by UITG.
- Message out to COI for OPAC revisions comments due by May 3 so far only positive feedback expect to put in live catalog by end of day, May 3.
Topic 3: Report on Usability testing on Catalog and Find It
Janet, Laura and Heidi met with Jean and Aleph programmers to discuss development and improvement of catalog. ITD will look into making a development environment. Discussion covered the following issues identified as problems in usability testing:
- Title words, title beginning with
- Dates publication-> can date be suppressed for serials? Heidi will ask Dave
- "author beginning with and other terminology for types of searches HH will check other catalogs
- e.g. author (last name, first name)
- Exact title begins with
(all or beginning with)
- title contains the word/s
- Availability screen location of request and Find It buttons Put request button on each line? Could help overcome reluctance to recall items (even though each button accesses same function)
Note: Refer these issues to subgroup for further work track ideas and progress on Wiki small group meeting will be scheduled.

Topic 4: Round Robin
Heidi: Update on journals subset redefinition.
Laura: Determining when to release SFX changes to live Laura will send summary of changes and proposed schedule to the group.
