USMAI Resource Sharing Task Group Minutes

June 1, 2006

  1. The minutes from our May 12, 2006 meeting were approved. Paula will notify Jackie to post to RSTG’s web page.

  2. Action items from the April 6 meeting:
  3. Jamie gave a demo of the ITD Wiki page. He will send us the page’s url and password through email. He cautioned us about using “Wiki Words” – words that are already linked such as ILLiad. These words need to be escaped by entering an asterisk before and after the word. Documents can be copy and pasted from Word. We agreed that RSTG draft minutes will be posted to the Wiki page. After approval they will be posted to the RSTG web page.

  4. ILLiad implementation update – St. Mary’s installation was completed on May 25. Carol, Robin and Jamie trained St. Mary’s staff. When ILLiad is installed at the other institutions, Carol and Robin will attend with Jamie. Expected live date for SM is June 15. Frostburg is next in line followed by Salisbury.

  5. We had a conference call with Tanner to review the latest version of RSTG’s charge. The bulleted items will be numbered. The comments/suggestions are:

    Bullet 2a – Exploring new online tools…Robin mentioned Rapid ILL. UMBC and UMCP will be exploring this. Tanner plans to speak with the representatives at Summer ALA. Rapid ILL allows for 1-day turn around time for articles. Fill rate is around 90%. We are unsure of the costs at this time. There was some discussion about a possible Marina demo.
    Bullet 2b – Partnering with other USMAI groups/Enhancing messaging to patrons…We discussed email notification to patrons for hold available/delete letters.
    Bullet 4 – Reviewing issues relating to resource sharing… Some improvements may be available in future versions of Aleph.
    Bullet 6 – Improving communication on resource sharing issues…
    The ILL agreements and Circulation agreements will be posted. There was some discussion about sending our timeline/status report to COIAll.

  6. August meeting date – We rescheduled the August meeting to Monday, August 7, 2006 from 9 am – 1 pm at UMBC Technology Center.

  7. Circulation Subgroup Update – We reviewed the 5 items from the Parking Lot list that have been assigned to the Circ group. Their initial projects include:
    Patron Purge
    Patron Privacy
    Permissions – who has access to Task Manager?
    Standardized Loan Periods
