ResearchPort:
- Continued work on making sure all databases for which Ex Libris provides configuration files are set up as cross-searchable in Research Port.
- Added deeplinking guide and improved instructions on adding Quick Search and Cross Search boxes.
Electronic Resource Licensing:
- Hosted Maryland Digital Library Vendor Day held at Capitol College
- Finalized pricing for Nature, Project Muse
- Set up FY 07 renewal websites for USMAI and MDL
Aleph:
- Working on the format for the email version of Hold Availability Notices.
- Ordered and received a folder/stuffer machine for UM to handle notices printed on paper for those patrons who do not have an email address in the patron file.
- Revisited issues with Serial claims report; a survey on usefulness and frequency issues was conducted via the COI. Decided to change to bimonthly generation of the report.
- Wrote a new report generation tool called "combine–reports" : which is a script that incorporates bibliographic and holdings information in one XML report. This was done in response to a report request from UMBC.
- Upgrades to the Bibliographic record loader (new architecture): finished initial programming,;successfully ran test cases; monitoring daily/weekly batch loaders; will begin testing Marcive and other loaders that have multiple 049 per bib. Start implementing bib loader report xsl stylesheet for new architecture design.
- Produced reports and began flipping sublibrary/collection codes in support of the move of CLIS materials into McKeldin at College Park.
Electronic Resource Management (Verde):
- Worked with Ex Libris on server specifications
- Worked with campus procurement on order for Verde
- Renegotiated lower price for Verde purchase and maintenance
Google Scholar:
- Set up Google Scholar links to SFX for ML, CE, and FS.
- Added Google Scholar to Research Port for CE
Inter Library Loan:
- Servers for the consortial Illiad installation have been bought and installed. Server administration is being handled by UM Windows experts, this is the first non-unix service we will be providing consortially.
- The software licenses are bought.
- Jamie Bush is leading this project in ITD, he began training on the UM installation of the Illiad software.
Authentication:
- Shibboleth project report. Met with Oren Beit-Arie from ExLibris, and arranged to work as development partners. Developed fully functional identity provider on the test ResearchPort server. Currently working with ExLibris to develop a shibbolized PDS.
- Have been in contact with ExLibris to coordinate the work.
- Continued work with UMUC on integration of their EZProxy and Ex Libris' PDS.
E-Resources in the Catalog (ERIC):
- Completed usability testing of Find It in the Catalog on 10 users at 2 campuses. Created clips and shared with UserInterface Task Group (UITG) and ERIC
- Formed a UITG subgroup which is working on proposed solutions to present to the two Task Groups.
- Worked on preparing specifications to load NetLibrary records
- Tested option for adding note instead of multiple holdings
- Preliminary look at options for adding additional info. to the sfx menu, such as link to book covers and summaries
Patron Loader:
- Worked on schedule to increase the frequency of the UMUC loads.
- Frostburg is in the preliminary stages.
- Successfully loaded UMES's first patron file (yeah!).
- UMAB has delivered their first test file in the new USMAI format for us to being working with.
EDI Loader (Invoice Loading and Ordering):
- Loaded FY2006 major renewals for most campuses; problems for SM - order numbers in EBSCO's database are not up-to-date; will provide a report to EBSCO and request reprocessing
- TU EBSCO invoices loaded live which marks the completion of TU EDI invoicing implementation.
- Work for ML ordering with Hein in progress.

EDI Ordering: Continued to research workflow and pre–order loader options. Information about this ongoing project is available on the COI site for Acquisitions and Serials under EDI.
Infrastructure:
- Continued to work on installing new equipment, met our first date for returning equipment that had been replaced. Our next big deadline is January 20th.
- MDL web site migrated to a new server.
- Mail Archives also has been moved. The new service is not yet available.
- Evaluated power supply needs and requested additional circuits.
- Turned on IP address checking on live Aleph server as increased security measure.
- Had a service outage that turned out to be an Oracle problem in Aleph. The catalog, sfx and Aleph staff clients did not work. In addition remote login to ResearchPort was unavailable. The problems occurred over about an hour, although most services were available throughout that time period.
- Installed WIKI software to use in assisting consortial communication. Used open–source software called PMWiki. Pilot project is being done for the User Interface Task Group.

- Jean Phillips is now full-time. She has been part time since 1993.
