USMAI Workplan:
- Icons have been added indicating recently updated items as well as completed items.
- Large developments milestones spreadsheet has been added. This spreadsheet gives an overview of the milestones for many of the larger projects including Verde implementation, Aleph V18, Patron Load automation and New Titles catalog.
- Version 18 resources now includes a PDQ Powerpoint presentation and an expanded milestones outline.
USMAI Webpages:
- AV18 Task Group pages have been setup with version 18 resources and membership information.
- Collection Development COI page has been setup.
InterLibrary Loan:
- Coppin State University and Morgan State Universtiy are now in production with ILLiad. Bowie State University has been scheduled for a meeting with the implementation team in early January.
Research Port/Find It:
User Interface Improvements:
- New Books catalog: - With input from UITG, the wording and color choices for PAC screens was updated to the test catalog
- The new format limiter "e-books" was refined on the advanced search screen to improve result sets by screening out serials. This is still in Test for review.
- Internet Explorer 7.0 testing completed on OPAC and clients (printing)
- Changes masde to the TEST PAC as requested by the UITG: (1) Revised wording on item renewal screen, (2) Added new format limiter "e-books" to advanced search screen.
Electronic Resource Management (Verde):
Electronic Resource Subscriptions:
Aleph:
- Daily courtesy email notices are now in production for SU and HSL. The pilot program for emailing of hold available notices at Mckeldin Library has gone well and it now being expanded to other CP branches.
- Vendor Switching - completed updating Aleph vendor flipping for BC, SU and TU; loaded major invoice renewals and reported the noted problems to EBSCO
- Serials training conducted on 12/11 with 22 participants. Guest trainers are Joyce Tenney (BC), Megan Del Baglivo (HSL), and Marlene Vikor (CP)
- SU Bowker data extraction - extracted 310 SU sample records for Bowker data analysis.
- ALEPH clients updated and user permissions created to provide catalogers access to LC and MeSH authorities libraries.
EDI Ordering:
- TU EDI ordering with BBS CM - the second 2nd round of training was conducted in November
- ES withdrew the request for mapping campus purchase number to MARC 961$k
- ES and TU are now in production
EDI Invoicing:
- EBSCO enhancement on EDI invoicing matching - SM update is done; some manual fixes required; waiting for campus' approval to load invoices. ML update is done. Order number reports to update its database sent to EBSCO.
Infrastructure:
- Power outage: on November 21st College Park experienced a campus wide power outage. Servers in the ITD computer room and many campus systems stayed up initially on backup power. Since the air conditioners in our computer room are not on backup power we began shutting down the test servers. After about 25 minutes we had to shut down the live servers. The ITD Help Desk made calls to all the campus circulation desks and an email went to campus contacts from a staff member who was not on campus. The power came back on about 45 minutes into the outage. After the room cooled off we brought up the servers.
Personnel:
- Nov - Search Committee (Systems Librarian's position) - committee met to review and selected 5 candidates for phone interviews
- Dec - Search Committee (Systems Librarian's position) - committee conducted four phone interviews (one candidate withdrew his candidacy) and selected two on-site interviews in Jan 2007
Meetings:
- Carmit Marcus of Ex Libris visited to discuss V18 implementation, PDQ, Patron Privacy and Multi-ADM.
- The first meeting of the Acquisitions/Serials Task Group was held in November at Bowie State.
