Study Group on the Future of the USMAI Web Presence

Charge:

This group will examine the current state of the USMAI web presence including the OPAC, Research Port, and local digital collections. The group will

• Identify new and emerging user discovery tools.
• Research and describe current best practices, trends, and products.
• Think creatively about the directions the consortium should take and how the USMAI web presence should change.
• Submit a white paper that recommends the directions in which the USMAI should move in order to provide users with the most comprehensive and convenient access to our broad array of resources and the wider universe of information.
  
  

Duties:

• Meet regularly in person or electronically to outline the project and assign responsibilities.
• Request information from consortium members via the Campus Contacts when necessary.
• Keep in mind the need to meet needs across the consortium.
  
  

Membership:

The study group will be composed of approximately five members chosen through the application process.

Timeframe:

The study group will begin meeting in fall, 2007. The white paper will be submitted to the Executive Council of the CLD by February 1, 2008. The Executive Council may request a progress report in December, 2007.
