Media Booking

Description: Aleph offers two types of booking services: rolling booking and advance booking. USMAI is implementing "rolling booking" service. The service will be staff mediated for better control.

Implementation work responsibilities and timeline:

The following decisions have to be made by libraries using media booking:
a. the item types that can be booked
b. a list of staff who will have permission to book items
c. how far in advance items can be booked
d. length of the loan period
e. the maximum number of items that a user may have booked at one time
f. head/tail time (time added to actual booking period to allow processing, delivery if applicable, etc.)
g. release time (if the requestor does not pick up the item, how long before another user can borrow it?)
h. will the library send advance notices to requestors reminding them of an upcoming booking?
i. staff procedures for managing booking: frequency of reports, will delivery be provided, will booked items be pulled and put on a special shelf for pickup, etc.

Work responsibilities and timeline:

Fall:

1. Submit a RxWeb Form with a subject of: " Materials Booking Implementation".
2. Complete materials booking information sheet.
3. Library staff should expect to test configuration over a two week period.
