OCLC Number Expansion

Description: Beginning on Nov. 12, 2006 OCLC will be making some changes to the OCLC number in their MARC Records. These changes are explained in detail in OCLC Technical Bulletin 253.

In brief, these changes are:

1. Expansion of the OCLC number to a nine-digit number
2. Introduction of a new OCLC designation prefix in the 001 control number
3. Inclusion of the new 13-digit ISBN in the 020 field
4. Changes to the 007 fill characters
