Usage Statistics for OPAC

Description: Statistical reports on usage, use of catalog by patrons, both on-campus and remote access; use of catalog by USM patrons; number of searches; number of hits. Statistics for how users are searching the OPAC, what resources they are accessing, what subject and formats they are most frequently searching. Reports by IP address for: search strings, link-outs, format desired, subject, requests, etc.

Summary: More research required to learn if other ExLibris institutions have already found a solution which works in our circumstance. Particularly, we need to determine which tables and fields to query.

Additionally, some work can proceed. Particularly, we need to determine:

1. what logging is currently active for USM; for CSU
2. how to segregate CSU searches from USM searches
3. how to segregate CSU 'on-campus' patrons from CSU 'remote-access' patrons
4. define what is meant by 'search'
5. define what is meant by 'hit'
